Consider Coaching

Being a coach is much more than just running a bunch of practices and organizing kids for games.

  • It is about connecting with players as people first, and athletes second.
  • It is about being passionate, and loving the game you teach, so your players will play with passion and love.
  • It is about empathy, making every player feel important, and giving him or her a role on the team.
  • It is about integrity and consistency for kids during good times and bad.
  • It is about being a model of the behavior you expect from your athletes, both on and off field of battle.
  • It is about being a teacher, not only of the X’s an O’s of a sport, but about life, about optimism, about persistence,  and about character.

You can change lives with a single word, a single pat on the back, and a single conversation that says "I believe in you."  The world needs great coaches more than ever before, and GALL needs you!

Coaching can be one of the most difficult jobs in the world, but it can also be one of the most rewarding opportunities!

Thank you for considering being a coach!

You Don't Get to Volunteer Like This Anywhere Else!

How Do I Become A Coach?

The first step is to decide what type of coaching role you want to volunteer.

  • Team Manager - Ultimately responsible for the team.  Will attend evaluations, draft players for the team, organize practices, manage lineups, organize team volunteers, coach the team, is responsible for the behavior of the team's players and coaches, and is the primary contact between the league and the team/parents.

  • Coach (Assistant Coach) -Assists the Manager with practice and games including supervising players during drills, performing duties assigned by the Manager, and helping to coach the team during games.

  • Practice Assistant Coach - Assists the Manager and Coaches on the field during practice, will help with the players in the dugout during games, and any other duties assigned by the Manager.

Once you determine the coaching role you prefer, you will need to register for the position(s) on our website.  Part of the registration will include filling out and uploading one of the two volunteer application forms.

Once your application has been received, the President of GALL will select and appoint Managers and Coaches.  The GALL board will then in turn approve the appointments.
